we live in a world where taking a ride means hoping in a car

or taking a cab to our next destination

I live in a world where I’d rather take a long stroll

and yearn to feel the sweat trickle down my loins with each step I take

we live in a world where it’s easier to pick up a phone, any kind of phone

or send a text message to reach our party

I live in a world where it tickles my soul to select fine linen paper

in anticipation of the notes I’m certain to send

we live a world where bars and chains grace our windows

and doors in an attempt to keep us safe

I live in a world where I feel like I’m in bondage

when ever I leave home and forget to put the alarm on

we live in a world that celebrates life

I live in a world that celebrates death

we live in a world where conversation is

a lost commodity, unless of course, there’s something to be gained

I live in a world where I long to

feel a non-sexual orgasm just at the crux of the right syllable

we live in a world where light bulbs are a must

I live in a world devoid of man made light and thirst for the

light that only candles and wood illuminate

we live in a world where the sun brings enjoyment

and the rain brings depression

I live in a world where the sprinkle of the rain

on either side of my cheeks makes me dance with splendor

we live in a world where we plant trees for shade and

quickly cut them down to make paper

I live in a world where I marvel the strength of every tree’s branch

and can only conceptualize a hammock swinging in the wind

we live in a world where love is a rare commodity

I live in a world where life isn’t worth living without love

we live in a world where you’re forced to conform to survive

I live in a world where I’ll die if I totally conform

so…

I am keeping my world

Join me because God says, “So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows. Matthew 10:31 NLT
