the lady and her lover, pull back the covers

it’s nite

and the stars are present
and the sheets
they await my shout
as we pull back the covers

it does our hearts good
to look across the room
with for real glances
knowing that the moment
in minutes
will make our hearts
soar with splendor

because all the nights alone
spent sliding from the left
to the center
have come to an end

they do not compare
to this elevated moment
to this nite
where we both
on bended knees
with hearts full of gladness

for His grace
and His mercies
and the passionate love making
sure to come.

i thank You
my ultimate Lover
for helping us
to find the other
binding us
an “I” into a “we”
as the lady and her lover, pull back the covers.

“Like the finest apple tree in the orchard is my lover among other young men. I sit in his delightful shade and taste his delicious fruit.” Song of Songs 2:3 (NLT)
