This past Sunday, October 15, 2017, I was honored by my god-parents for the impact that I have had on their family and their life – a 41 year old relationship and still counting.
For as much as I give to others, it is hard sometimes for me to accept honor. I think it is the oldest child syndrome and a bunch of other unnecessary stuff that gets in my way of simply accepting thank you’s.
I have pretty much been in a state of awe since Sunday; however, early on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, I was overwhelmed and became pregnant with this month’s poetic mustard seed. I dedicate this poem to my god parents and god family because I am who I am, in part, for what they poured into me. I believe whole-heartedly “it takes a village” because I am a testament to its saving power.
If you are not a part of someone’s village, now is the time. There is too much at stake within the world, in our communities to not pour into some one else’s life, because some one is always watching and the harvest is plenty.
