  • It’s so easy to make the wrong turn, even when you are following directions provided by a GPS.

Life is like that too. Before you know it, someone, something, or some unexpected life event has entered your life and in an instant, your schedule, goals, and sanity are all out of whack. You got off track and you really can’t think for the life of yourself, how you veered so far off the path. You gained ten extra pounds, you called when you said you would not, you’re not eating properly, you’re not sleeping well, your bucket list feels like you threw it away in a bucket somewhere; and you can’t remember the last time you sincerely prayed or even read your bible on a consistent basis. These are just a few examples of how we can get derailed.

One November morning last year at 3 a.m., I was inspired to write this week’s provocative thought – Just Follow These Directions.  I’m so glad God stopped by and whispered this thought into my ear (ok not at 3 a.m. though, but I have learned not to question the hour) because when I am off center, man am I off center! And I do not know about you, but I just do not function well when I am out of sorts as some might call it.  Perhaps if you are honest, you will join me with an – Amen!

Being in relationship with Jesus is so amazing though, because He is never off centered and His incredible love yanks you back before you veer too far off!  It’s like snatching your child’s hand before they touch a hot stove.  The key is though; you have to be in this thing called “relationship” with Him just like you are with your child and a hot stove.

By that I mean, at some point in your life, you must ask Jesus to come into your life, to be Lord of it and surrender so that His character begins to rub off on you. It is a work in process; however it starts with saying yes to His directional guide. Psalms 32:8 NKJV reminds us so: “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.

If you do not know Jesus, I urge you to hurry up and follow Him. There simply is too much going on in the world (which the Bible tells us would happen) for you to think you have time. Honestly, you do not have the next second so be encouraged and find inspiration by clicking the Poetic Wednesday tab –  Just Follow These Directions.

    Because I care.
